Campanhã train station is in Porto and is the terminus of the Linha do Norte coming from Lisbon . It is also located on the Linha do Minho , which runs from the São Bento downtown train station in Portuens via Campanhã to the Valença border station and on to Vigo in Spain.
history
The station was inaugurated in 1877 and was located in the area of the historic Quinta do Pinheiro. Since it is outside the center, a branch line to São Bento train station was built in 1896, which is now part of the Linha do Minho.
Location and facility
Estaçao de Campanhã, designed as a through station, is located a little outside the center in the east of the city. The system comprises 16 platform tracks, which are between 220 and 550 meters long. The platforms are between 220 and 510 meters long, the edges of which, with the exception of the first platform, which is 65 centimeters high, are 90 centimeters high.

The station is the most important rail junction in northern Portugal. This is where the Alfa Pendular and Intercidades trains to Lisbon or Faro start off, some of the pairs of trains are extended beyond Porto to Guimarães, Viana do Castelo or Braga. There are also internacional trains to Vigo. In regional traffic, Campanhã is the central hub of the network of CP Urbanos do Porto , which offers train connections to Aveiro, Guimarães, Braga and Marco de Canaveses on four lines. The station of the same name on the Porto Metro is served by five lines.
