Haindling is a district of Geiselhöring with around 100 inhabitants in the Straubing-Bogen district in Lower Bavaria . The towers of the two churches on a slope are visible from afar.

history

The village is one of the oldest pilgrimage sites in Bavaria. It was mentioned for the first time in 1337 when there was a Lady Chapel there and the pilgrims became more and more numerous, so that from 1337 a chaplain had to look after them. Today there is a St. Mary's Church there, which was built between 1719 and 1721 using the medieval enclosing walls and the baroque tower. After the nave vault collapsed in 1816, it was rebuilt immediately.

There is also a 15th century church in the village, which is dedicated to Jesus Christ. This cruciform church was expanded from 1621. In 1626 it received its two-storey vestibule and around 1630 the tower structure.

Before the secularization , Haindling was administered by the St. Emmeram primate provost office of Haindling and Hainsbach. After that, Haindling was an independent municipality in the Mallersdorf district, which was dissolved in 1972 until the regional reform . On May 1, 1978 it was incorporated into the city of Geiselhöring. In church terms, Haindling belongs to the parish of Hainsbach.
