Dana Ranga

Dana Ranga (* 1964 in Bucharest ) is a Romanian writer . She lives and works in Berlin .

Life

Dana Ranga first studied medicine at the University of Bucharest , later she moved to Berlin to the Free University , where she studied journalism, art history and film theory.

Her first film, East Side Story (1997), won an award at the Marseille Film Festival in 1998 and was shown in cinemas and television worldwide. The documentary Story (2003) about the astronaut Story Musgrave received awards at the film festivals in Marseille (2003), Leipzig (2003) and Houston (2004). Then Dana Ranga produced Cosmonaut Polyakov (2007), a portrait of the record holder Valeri Polyakov , which was awarded as the best documentary film in Sao Paulo. In 2009 came Oh, Adam , a film about the folklore of dying in a Romanian village. I am in Space (2012), a film about psychology and weightlessness, in which personal video recordings by the French ESA astronaut Jean-François Clervoy are shown, closes the space trilogy.

Dana Ranga wrote two radio plays ( Das Auge der Supernova , WDR 2002 and Herz, Kopf, Zahl , WDR 2005), translated poetry and prose from Romanian and English into German and published her own texts in magazines ( Sinn und Form , manuscripts , accents , die hear, among other things). In 2011 Dana Ranga's volume of poetry Wasserbuch was published and in 2016 the stories Hauthaus were published by Suhrkamp Verlag .
