flora

The predominant sandy soil in the wet meadow is very poor in nutrients and is only used in a few arable fields. There are often rows of trees rich in undergrowth and small bushes and field trees. In the grassland, the plant communities change over small areas. The ryegrass - white clover willow occurs most frequently , the moist form about as often as the fresh one.

In addition, smooth oat meadows occur predominantly in the typical form and rarely in the moist variant. In the western part of the area there is flood turf in the form of a kinky foxtail lawn.

In 2001, 19 plant species on the red list of endangered species of the state of North Rhine-Westphalia and another 15 plant species on the state's warning list were detected.

fauna

The most visible representatives of the fauna in the area are the curlew , which regularly occurs here with one or two breeding pairs, and the lapwing , which regularly breeds with two to four pairs.

But the wet meadow is also a refuge for insects . In 2001, eleven species of grasshopper and 21 species of butterfly were identified . A total of ten species of all recorded animals that occur here are on the red list of endangered species.
