When Flecker Heide is a nature reserve in Verl , Gütersloh , Detmold , with a size of 10.5 hectares . It is carried with the number GT-000. As part of the wetland protection program of the state of North Rhine-Westphalia , it was designated as a nature reserve by the District President Detmold with the ordinance of July 18, 1989. It was then repealed by ordinance of April 11, 1991 after the area was designated as a nature reserve in the Sennelandschaft landscape plan of the Gütersloh district. The Fleckernheide and the surrounding areas were bought up by the Federal Republic of Germany as compensation areas for the expansion of the A 33 .

The area was placed under protection to preserve communities and habitats of certain wild plants and wild animal species, but also because of the uniqueness and beauty of the area. Furthermore, the development of the grassland through rewetting and extensive use as well as the maintenance of the structured hedge trains are the protection goals of the Fleckernheide.

Characteristic

The designated nature reserve is located in the area of ​​the city of Verl, northeast of the Bornholte district . It consists of two fat pastures , which are separated from each other by a north-south path with accompanying hedges. It is in an undisturbed location surrounded by forest. The pasture to the east is grazed by cattle, the west by horses. The former status as wet grassland has expired as a result of its use .

In the Fleckernheide area, a total of 40 species that are on the Red List of Endangered Species were found. The plant species occurring in the nature reserve include z. B. the branchy hedgehog , the broad-leaved orchid , the thread rush , as well as the king fern or the large rattlespot .
