The Hesselner Berge nature reserve is 32.81 hectares in size and is divided into two areas in the northern part of the city of Halle (Westphalia) . It is listed with the number GT-042 and is specifically designated for the conservation of wild animal and plant species.

Between the surfaces there is a protected paleontological outcrop in the still active quarry. Here Turon layers are in chaotic storage, in which giant ammonites were found. Some of these ammonites can be seen in the Heimathaus in Borgholzhausen .
