The Im Binner nature reserve is an area of ​​30.03 hectares in the Rietberg district of Druffel in the Gütersloh district . It is listed under the number GT-022.

It was designated in 1988 for the preservation of communities and habitats of wild plants and animals and because of the rarity, uniqueness and beauty of the area.

Characteristic

The wet meadow protection area to the north-west of the Druffel settlement area consists almost exclusively of grassland, which has a pronounced structure formed by overgrown hedges by strips of wood and rows of trees. In some areas, wet meadow vegetation typical of the Ems sand plain has been preserved. In the northeast, a forest area with partly older trees borders the protected area.

The southern former fish pond

On the eastern edge of the area there are two ponds that were formerly used for fish farming and transformed into species protection waters. There is also a ditch in the center of the area , which drains into the Merschgraben in a south-westerly direction .

flora

In a survey carried out between 2001 and 2004, 163 vascular plant species were identified, 16 of which are on the red list and a further 10 are on the warning list. These include the water feather , the tubular water fennel and the marsh chickweed .

fauna

A territory mapping in 2000 provided evidence of a total of 33 breeding bird species in the protected area. Of particular note are the species of lapwing , small woodpecker , little owl , curlew , green woodpecker and barn swallow .
