The nature reserve Am Lichtebach is a wet meadow reserve, designated in 1989, with a size of 47 ha in the north of Gütersloh on the border with Steinhagen . It is carried with the number GT-010.
Characteristic
The wetland protection area is formed by the floodplains of the Lichtebach and its Steinbach tributaries and is characterized by a very high proportion of grassland . In the northern area of the protection area there are also some lean and sandy roadsides in some places, which are characterized by their special and species-rich vegetation. In the western area of the protected area there are two species protection waters with small reed beds .
Until the 1950s, the area's meadows were deliberately flooded with nutrient-rich stream water. This process, known as “ rafting ”, resulted in gentle fertilization.
flora
In a territorial mapping, 300 different plant species were found within the protected area, 37 of which are on the red list. The marsh marigold , sundew and the devil's bite are prominently represented here .
fauna
The breeding bird species that occur include the lapwing , the curlew , the reed warbler , the black warbler and the sparrowhawk . The crested newt could be detected in a species protection water .
