The village of Bornholte with the main settlement Bornholte-Bahnhof is a district of the East Westphalian city of Verl in the district of Gütersloh in northeast North Rhine-Westphalia with 1,468 inhabitants .
geography
Located in the center of Verl, Bornholte borders Rietberg in the southwest . The Große Bastergraben rises in the district .
history
As a result of the local reorganization , the formerly independent community Bornholte in the former Verl district became part of the new community Verl on January 1, 1970 with the "Law on the reorganization of communities in the Wiedenbrück district and parts of the Bielefeld district" of December 4, 1969 Amt Verl was dissolved.
education
One of the five primary school locations in the city of Verl is located in Bornholte-Bahnhof. The primary school, which has existed since 1892, has only been operated as a branch of the Kaunitz-Bornholte primary school network since 2011 , as the number of students in Bornholte was no longer sufficient to run the school independently. At the end of 2018, 83 schoolchildren visited the Bornholte site.
traffic
The Gütersloh – Verl – Kaunitz – Hövelhof branch line of the Teutoburg Forest Railway (TWE) , which was opened in 1903, runs through the Bornholte railway station . The suspension of passenger traffic in 1978 also resulted in the closure of the Bornholte stop. On the first Sunday in December, however, the historic Teuto-Express runs every year on the TWE in the museum train service to the Hövelhofer Nikolausmarkt.
