Oberharthausen is a district of the town of Geiselhöring in the Lower Bavarian district of Straubing-Bogen . Until 1978 it formed an independent municipality.

location

Oberharthausen is located on the edge of the Gäuboden about five kilometers northeast of Geiselhöring and about two kilometers southeast of Perkam and about eight kilometers southwest of Straubing .

history

It is proven that the first people lived in the cultural landscape around Oberharthausen around 4500 BC. There are various readings from the Münchshöfen period , the Latène period , the Urnfield period and the middle Roman imperial period . The finds include a Roman coin, a knife and a wide variety of pottery from the epochs.

Oberharthausen was first mentioned in 1186 as Harthòsen . The place belonged to the Hochstift Regensburg . In 1186 Oberharthausen was donated by the Bishop of Regensburg to the St. Johann monastery, which was also located there . The Hofmark Oberharthausen is mentioned for the first time in the fourth land table of the Viztumsamt Straubing from around 1510, but the Hofmark rights can be determined as early as 1448. The Hofmark remained with the Regensburg Church. On November 20, 1815, the Regensburg Cathedral Chapter was granted permission to form a local court, which bore the name "Domkapitlisch-Regensburg Local Court Oberhartshausen". According to the edict of October 5, 1818, jurisdiction was transferred to the Straubing Regional Court.

In 1808 a schoolmaster appeared for the first time, who was both blacksmith and sacristan. In 1820 the Oberharthausen school was incorporated into the Pönning school association . The municipality of Oberharthausen emerged from the Pönning tax district in 1821.

Towards the end of the Second World War, on February 5, 1945, some American bombers unloaded their bomb load over Oberharthausen. About 64 bombs were later counted. The result was three deaths, two injuries and three agricultural properties almost completely destroyed.

The American military government arranged for the small communities of Pönning and Oberharthausen to be merged. On October 4, 1945, the municipality of Pönning decided "to have no concerns about the settlement with the municipality of Oberharthausen". But in 1947 the municipality of Oberharthausen regained its independence. On December 28, 1947, the local council of Pönning decided: "No objections to the separation of the two communities of Pönning and Oberharthausen".

The regional reform in Bavaria meant that the municipality of Oberharthausen had to look around for a connection with other municipalities. After attempts to join forces with Perkam or Feldkirchen failed, Oberharthausen was unexpectedly attached to the city of Geiselhöring with effect from May 1, 1978.

The first village festivals in Oberharthausen were organized by rural youth in the 1980s. There has also been a wine festival since 2003 and an annual strong beer festival since 2006. All of these festivals are held in the community house built in 2002.

Ecclesiastically, Oberhartshausen belonged to the parish of Atting until 1951 and has since been incorporated into the Pönning branch.

  • Filial church St. Margaretha. The Gothic complex from the 14th century was changed to Baroque style except for a small Gothic pointed arch window behind the high altar. The tower received its current appearance in 1882. In 1936 a window axis was added to the nave. The baroque altar with the portrait of the patron saint St. Margaretha dates back to around 1720. The side figures represent the plague saints Sebastian and Rochus. Other figures include a Pieta from around 1420 and a crucifix from around 1520.
