The Verona Porta Nuova railway station is the main station of the city of Verona .
location
The station is at the intersection of two main lines from west to east and north to south. The west-east railway line Milan – Venice intersects the north-south running Brennerbahn and its continuation, the railway line Verona – Bologna .
It is located on Piazzale XXV Aprile ( April 25th Square ) south of the city center and the Adige .
history
In 1851 the station was opened on the Verona - Dossobuono line. The station was largely rebuilt between 1910 and 1922. After being destroyed by Allied bombing in World War II , the current building was built between 1946 and 1949.
Passenger statistics
Verona Porta Nuova train station is used by around 68,000 passengers every day and a total of 25 million annually. The station area is the center of the Verona transport network. The bus terminal is not far from the station building and connects the city with the surrounding communities.
