The station Waldmünchen is a former train station in the Upper Palatinate town of Waldmünchen . It was replaced by the Waldmünchen stop .
history
The station was planned by the Royal Bavarian State Railways as part of the construction of the Cham – Waldmünchen railway line . The line went into operation on August 1, 1895. The station, built in 1898, is made of granite cyclopean masonry and bright bricks and is registered as a monument (Fl. No. 814/4).
With the station, the glassworks in Waldmünchen and Herzogau could be connected to the railway and supplied with cheap coal. In 2002 the route was shortened by 300 meters and a platform was built as a new terminus . The old, listed station building was handed over to private hands. After delays, work on building a supermarket began in spring 2010 on the former station site.
description
The reception building is a three-storey brick building that ends with a hipped roof . The ground floor is made of roughly hewn blocks. The station had a wash house made of polygonal masonry , boarded up on one side, a goods hall made of polygonal masonry with brick surrounds and a locomotive shed made of polygonal masonry with two entrance gates. The outbuildings were demolished as part of the reconstruction of the station area.
