The Wegenstedt station is the station of Wegenstedt in Saxony-Anhalt . It is the only train station still in operation in the municipality of Calvörde .
history
On November 1, 1874, the northern section of the Oebisfelde – Magdeburg line was opened, so that Wegenstedt got a station for passenger and freight traffic. A connection to this railway line was requested from the Braunschweig office of Calvörde , but this line was moved around the office. The municipality of Calvörde felt compelled to build its own small railway to Wegenstedt . Freight traffic began on September 22, 1909, and passenger traffic on October 1, 1909.
On September 24, 1966, passenger traffic ended on May 27, 1967, freight traffic on the Wegenstedt – Calvörde small railway line. Until the summer of 2009, the station had form signals and a mechanically operated barrier from there. Since then, operations have been handled by an electronic signal box . In 2011, an electrical display board was set up, which not only shows the time but also delays. Deutsche Bahn announced that extensive work such as the renovation of the platform and the creation of a weather shelter at the Wegenstedt stop will take place at the end of May 2012.
The train station is served by regional trains every hour or two hours in the direction of Magdeburg or Wolfsburg during the week ; every two hours on the weekend. It belongs to station category 6.
