The railway line Claremont Mulberry Street - West Claremont is a former railway line in New Hampshire ( United States ). It is around 5.5 kilometers long and is located in the urban area of Claremont . The line is closed and dismantled.

history

After the Claremont Street Railway and the Claremont Electric Light Company merged to form the Claremont Railway in 1901 , an electric tram was built through the town of Claremont. Between Claremont Junction and Mulberry Street freight yard, the railway used the Concord – Claremont line . The line was later expanded to two tracks. In 1930, passenger traffic on the line ended, but goods continued to be transported thanks to numerous adjacent industrial companies. After the Claremont and Concord Railway bought the Claremont Railway in 1954, it stopped electrical operations and continued to operate the line with diesel locomotives as a railway line. The second track was dismantled. In 1988 freight traffic ended on the route, which was then closed and dismantled.

Route description

The line branches off at Mulberry Street from the Concord – Claremont railway line and runs north along Tyler Street. At its northern end, the route crosses the Sugar River . It now runs along Front Street and Main Street and ends in West Claremont.
