Thomas George Knox
Sir Thomas George Knox (January 1824 - July 29, 1887 ) was a British officer and diplomat in Siam .
Knox was a son of the Reverend James Spencer Knox and Clara Barbara Beresford. After training as an officer, he served in the 65th and 98th regiments in India and China . He later became an employee of the British East India Company . He trained the troops of the Uparat from Siam. Between 1864 and 1879 he was British Consul General in Siam.
In 1854 Knox married the Siamese Prang Yen. The couple had three children:
- Fanny Knox , who married a Siamese nobleman who was executed at the instigation of the regent Chaophraya Si Suriyawong ,
- Caroline Knox, who married the son of Anna Leonowens , Louis ,
- Thomas Knox († 1923)
Knox was a member of the Royal Asiatic Society for many years .
