The Collonges-Fontaines – Lyon-Guillotière railway is a short connection to the Paris – Marseille and Lyon – Genève lines . Trains from Dijon can thus reach Lyon-Part-Dieu station without having to take the detour via Lyon-Perrache station .

history

The section from Lyon-Guillotière to Lyon-Saint-Clair was approved in 1853 and built in 1859 by the Compagnie du chemin de fer de Lyon à Genève. This happened in connection with the construction of the Lyon – Genève railway and its connection to the Paris – Marseille railway line .

The Collonges-Fontaines-Lyon-Saint-Clair section was signed by the Ministre des Travaux publics and the Society on May 26, 1883, with reservations for the PLM . The agreement became law on November 20th.

With the decree of April 24, 1884, the route was declared important for public transport, thus confirming the concession.

Route

There is a 2,404 km long tunnel on the route, the Caluire Railway Tunnel .
