The Jyväskylä – Pieksämäki railway connects Jyväskylä and Pieksämäki in Finland . It has the Russian track width of 1524 mm and a length of 79.8 km.

The line is single-lane and electrified throughout. The Finnish state owns the route. The route is operated by the state-owned railway company VR-Yhtymä .

history

In 1912 it was decided to start building the line. It was opened in 1918. In 1995 the line was electrified.

Eight trains run between Jyväskylä and Pieksämäki every day . With the exception of one, all of them hold Hankasalmi in the only one still served . There are seven connections in the opposite direction, two of which do not stop in Hankasalmi. Freight trains also run.
