The Kruglanken – Marggrabowa railway (1928 to 1945: Treuburg ) ran through East Prussia in the northeast of what is now the Polish Warmian-Masurian Voivodeship . It connected the northern part of the Masurian Lake District around the towns of Angerburg ( Polish : Węgorzewo ) and Lötzen (Giżycko) with the district town of Marggrabowa (Treuburg, Polish: Olecko).

history

After the Angerburg – Lötzen railway was opened on December 21, 1905 as a connection between these two district towns, the connection to Marggrabowa followed on September 15, 1908, "halfway" near Kruglanken ( Kruklanki in Polish ). In the 1940s, four pairs of trains passed the 1435 mm gauge and 43.7 kilometers long route in both directions every day.

In Marggrabowa / Treuburg there was a connection to the Lyck – Insterburg (Ełk – Tschernjachowsk) railway line, which was built in 1879 and connected North and Southeast Prussia as an important rail route. In addition, the railway line to Suwalken / Sudauen (Suwałki) and from 1911 the lines of the Treuburger Kleinbahnen was reached in Marggrabowa .

After the end of the war in 1945, the line was not put back into operation.
