The Lugovoi – Bishkek railway runs from Kazakhstan to Kyrgyzstan .

description

It has the Russian track width of 1520 mm, is single-track and not electrified. The route is owned and operated by the state railways of the two states, Kazakhstan Temir Scholy and Kyrgys Temir Dscholu , for the section located on their territory. Around 40% of the route is on Kazakhstan. The railway line has a length of approximately 154 km and links the Kyrgyz capital Bishkek in the station of Lugovoi in Kazakhstan to the Turkestan-Siberian Railway to.

history

The line was put into operation on August 8, 1924.

Future development

The renewal and electrification of the route was planned between 2015 and 2017. The cost was estimated at $ 65 million. These investments mean an increase in the maximum speed from today's 60 km / h to 120 km / h. This doubles the average speed for passenger trains from 33 km / h to 70 - 80 km / h and for freight trains to 90 km / h.
