The Marbach – Bad Dürrheim line was a 5.36 km long, single-track branch line in southern Baden. The branch line to Bad Durrheim chain in Marbach from the Baden Black Forest Railway from. The Baden State Railways opened on August 1, 1904. Passenger traffic ended on October 4, 1953, freight traffic on September 24, 1966, and total shutdown took effect on September 26, 1966.

history

As the Grand Duchy of Baden 's plans for its 1873 completed Schwarzwaldbahn presented, one of the possible track variants took into account the Saline location Durrheim. Since the Black Forest Railway instead ran along the Brigach via Donaueschingen , Dürrheim initially had no rail connection. At the end of the 19th century, an initiative tried unsuccessfully to remedy the situation with an electrically operated narrow-gauge railway from Villingen to Bad Dürrheim. A Baden law of June 30, 1902 finally created the basis for a fully-fledged railway connection from Marbach, which was inaugurated on July 31, 1904. Regular passenger traffic started one day later, freight traffic on August 15 of the same year.

Passenger traffic between Marbach and Bad Dürrheim ended on October 4, 1953, goods traffic on September 24, 1966. Immediately after the total closure with effect from September 26, 1966, the line was dismantled.

Relics

The station Marbach (Baden) was after decommissioning the way to Bad Durrheim to stop downgraded in the wake of the establishment of the Ringzugs abandoned in 2003 and by the further south breakpoint Marbach West (Villingen-Schwenningen) replaced. There is now a shop in the old reception building and it is used as a residential building.

In the further course, relics of the route can still be made out in the wild. In Bad Dürrheim there is now a footpath and bike path on it, and the bus station in Bahnhofstrasse still testifies to the location of the former train station.
