The Mirow – Rechlin railway line was an 11.5 kilometer long, single-track, non-electrified and now dismantled railway line in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania from the Starsow junction to Rechlin . The route was mainly used for military purposes.

history

The railway line was planned as a connection to Ellerholz airfield and completed in 1918. In 1922 or 1924 it was opened to passenger traffic. In 1933 there was an extension to Rechlin (later north). In 1944 four pairs of trains ran daily, plus a continuous pair of trains between Neustrelitz Süd and Rechlin for the employees of the Rechlin test center . Passenger traffic was discontinued on May 28, 1967, and freight traffic on December 31, 2001. The line had already been closed on June 1, 1996 and has only been used as a station siding since then. In 2007 the route was dismantled after plans for a tourist use had failed. Today there is a cycle path on parts of the route.
