The Groß Peterwitz – Katscher small railway was the first standard-gauge small railway in Silesia and was put into operation on April 28, 1896.

The approximately 8.5 km long route connected the small town of Katscher ( Kietrz ) in the Upper Silesian district of Leobschütz near the Bohemian border with the Groß Peterwitz ( Pietrowice Wielkie ) train station on the state branch line Ratibor-Leobschütz .

The railway, which was built by the Berlin railway construction and operating company Vering & Waechter , became the property of Vereinigte Kleinbahnen AG in 1927 , which it owned by Allgemeine Deutsche Eisenbahn-Betriebs-GmbH (ADEG), a subsidiary of Allgemeine Deutsche Kleinbahn-Gesellschaft AG (ADKA). However, ADEG continued to operate until 1945.

After the Second World War, the Polish State Railways (PKP) took over operations and continued passenger train services until 1992 or 1994. Sporadically, there is still freight train traffic (beet transports from PKP Cargo to Racibórz) on the route.
