Attractions

The Siddheshwara Temple , built from bricks on an almost octagonal ground plan, is one of the rare tower temples ( rekha- deul ) in West Bengal. Its side length is about 8.50 m; after the collapse of the amalaka and kalasha, the height is only about 16.50 m. The lower part of the outer wall - with the exception of the portal front - is divided by several surrounding cornices ; the upper part of the tower is visually loosened up by numerous vertical gradations. In addition, portraits of Ganesha , Durga as the slayer of the buffalo demon Mahishasura and a figure of Jaina - Tirthankaras Parshvanata adorn the wall niches. Only about 4.50 square meters and about 4.20 m high Cella ( garbhagriha ) houses a Shiva - lingam . In front of the temple tower there is a rectangular forecourt separated by a wall.
