Neptunbad even Zentralbad , ( Romanian Baia Publica Neptune , Baia Neptune or Baia Centrala ) is under monument protection standing building in the western Romanian city of Timisoara ( German  Timisoara ), still a public in which even today swimming pool is located. It is located in Strada Ion Creanga No. 16 on the border of the 2nd district Fabric ( German  factory town ) to the inner city district of Cetate .

description

The building was constructed in the Secession style between 1912 and 1914 by the architect László Székely . Originally also known under the Hungarian name Hungaria fürdővel , it was intended to replace the city's former Turkish baths. In 1919 there were already nine baths in the city.

The building received planning permission in 1912 and was completed in 1914. With the wave forms on the front, the floral decorations in the upper part and the side facades decorated with Doric columns, it shows characteristics of the architectural style of the Vienna Secession . The roof is characterized by large, trapezoidal shapes and round domes and is said to have been inspired by the style of the Viennese architect Otto Wagner . On the front of the building are the initials of the architect László Székely, who was also the first owner of the building.

From the Neptunbad you can see the Inner City ( Romanian Cetate ) and the Bega Canal , over which the neighboring Podul Decebal runs. The Parcul Poporului ( German  Volkspark ) is on the other side of the Bulevardul 3 August 1919 , which leads past the bath .
