Baiqongyr ( Kazakh Байқоңыр ; Russian Байконур Baikonur ) is a metro station on the Almaty Metro . It was opened on December 1, 2011 as part of the first construction phase of the metro.

location

The station is located in the western district of Bostandyq and extends underground in an east-west direction under the Abai Prospect. The Central Stadium and the Satbayev University are in the immediate vicinity .

description

The platform is 104 m long and 15.2 m wide. It has a central platform , the western end of which is the only way to the surface. From there, escalators first lead to a mezzanine floor, from which two staircases lead to each side of Baitursynow Street.

The design of the metro station is based on the Baikonur cosmodrome . The walls are clad with metal panels in blue and light gray, the floors are covered with gray granite . At the eastern end of the platform, from which there is no stairway, is an LED wall with information and advertising.
