The Baisinger Biermanufaktur GmbH is a brewery from the Rottenburg area Baisingen in the district of Tübingen and is still privately owned by the devil family. Attached to it is a brewery inn.

history

The history of the Baisinger BierManufaktur goes back to the year 1775, when the founder Christian Teufel started brewing his own beer in the rooms of today's brewery inn "Zum Löwen", initially for his own restaurant consumption. Teufel came from a farming family and practiced this profession. In addition, he devoted himself to brewing, which he ran in the restaurant on the same property on which the Baisinger beers are still brewed today. However, the "Zum Löwen" brewery restaurant and the new, own brewery are now housed in separate buildings. In 1805 Christian Teufel's son Anton took over the brewery until he passed the management on to his son Fidel Teufel Senior in 1842. From 1868 Fidel Teufel Junior ran the brewery in the fourth generation. Fidel Teufel Junior's son Christian managed the family business again until 1918. Paul Teufel Senior, Christian's Teufel son, then took over the management. Originally his son Wilhelm was planned as his successor, but he fell in World War II in 1943 - a year before his father died. After the death of the two, Paul Teufel's wife Rosa and her daughter Gertrud took over the family brewery and managed to continue the business in the post-war period.

In 1948 Gertrud Teufel married Edmund Teufel. Although both had the same surname before marriage, they had no family connection before the marriage. The two sons of Gertrud and Edmund Teufel Senior, Paul and Edmund Teufel Junior, still run the brewery today together with Edmund Teufel's son Paul in the ninth generation. The “Zum Löwen” brewery, which originally belonged to the family business, is currently not run by the family.

In 2010 the Löwenbrauerei Teufel GmbH changed its name to Baisinger BierManufaktur, Familie Teufel GmbH.

modernization

As a result of continuous increases in output, numerous modernizations were implemented, including an expansion of the fermentation and storage cellar and the conversion from wood storage to aluminum tanks in 1952. In 1974 a new hall with a fully automatic filling system was built. After a renovation and modernization of the brewery restaurant, a new fully automatic bottom-fermenting cellar system was built in 1995, and in 1997 a separate wheat beer cellar was added. In 2000 a new bottling plant was built. The brewhouse was also modernized in 2003 and equipped with a fully automatic control system.

In 2012, the family company invested in the acquisition of a steam boiler system for an environmentally friendly energy supply, which enables higher energy productivity. For the 240th anniversary of the brewery, a new, larger logistics hall was inaugurated in May 2015.

Sponsorship

Since the 2013 season, the Baisinger BierManufaktur has been a sponsor of the SSV 1905 Reutlingen soccer club and the main sponsor of the TV Reutlingen tennis club. Every year the family business organizes the Bock beer festival with the Göttelfingen music association, which celebrated its 30th anniversary in 2015.

Companies

In 2015, the Baisinger BierManufaktur employed 20 people and brewed around 30,000 hectoliters (hl) of beer annually (2013 value). The nine types of beer are mainly sold regionally. The brewery can use its own yeast strain to give its beer a particularly fruity taste. As one of the few breweries, the Baisinger BierManufaktur uses the elaborate process of bottle fermentation for the yeast-wheat beers of the “light” and “dark” varieties .

range

Currently (2015) the product range consists of ten different beers and two beer brandies .
