The Bait ul-Huda ( Urdu بیت الہدیٰ DMG Baīt al-Hudā , German 'House of Guidance' ) is a mosque in Usingen .

history

The mosque, inaugurated on September 7, 2004 on the edge of an industrial area southwest of the city center, was built by the Ahmadiyya Muslim Jamaat and has a dome and a 14 m high minaret . The mosque community owns approx. 160 members.

Arson attack

Just a few months after opening, the mosque hit the headlines after a break-in on December 22, 2004. During this break-in, an attempt was made to set the mosque on fire, resulting in damage of 50,000 euros. The citizens of Usingen showed great solidarity. City officials visited the mosque and expressed their support. With spontaneously collected donations from Usinger citizens, the parishioners financed a horse chestnut tree , which is now located at the entrance to the property with a bank below it.

The perpetrators of the arson attack could not be determined; the proceedings were discontinued after one year.

building

The mosque has separate prayer rooms for men on the upper floor and women in the basement. The prayer niche for the prayer leader, the imam, is also on the upper floor . The prayer rooms - each around 77 m² in size - are used not only for religious but also for private purposes: in addition to religious instruction, also for events, meditations, student tutoring, etc. The ornaments in the corresponding windows are used to highlight and embellish.

In addition to the toilets with washing facilities for the religious rite ( wudu ' ) , the mosque also contains an office and a small kitchen that is mainly used for catering. The minaret is an architectural reference to the mosque and symbolizes steadfastness and firmness in faith, but has no practical function for the call to prayer .
