The Bakarlak ( Bulgarian Бакърлък , also Bakarlaka) is a mountain in the Meden rid hill range in the Strandscha Mountains, not far from the Black Sea . The Bakarlak with its 362 m is the highest point in the Bay of Burgas and in the Meden rid. Until 1942, the entire range of hills was named for the highest mountain.
On the top there is a radio and television station and the remains of the Krivma fortress . The fortress and the subsequent settlement were initially inhabited by the Thracian tribe of the Skirmiani and later taken over by Apollonia Pontica . In late antiquity the fortifications grew to an area of 400 m². There were several copper mines in the vicinity.
The summit is easiest to reach from the west; a well-marked hiking trail leads from the village of Rossen to the summit. The eastern slopes are steep and suitable for mountain climbing.
