Music style and lyrics

According to Arlette Huguenin from vampster, the album "makes it clear from the start that there have been no drastic changes in the musical world of the people of Münster", although "the Germans have matured even further in terms of play". However, the music is “very simple”. Musical was Black Frost with Mayhem The Freezing Moon and Taakes Hordaland Doedskvad I compared. In addition, the band "seamlessly builds on the brilliant performances of earlier Enslaved up to their Frost phase and earlier Satyricon ", on the other hand they pile up "solemn mid-tempo epics at skyscraper height". The texts were referred to as "eloquent and profound as ever," Huguenin felt at Black Frost on Georg Trakl recalls.

reception

Wolf-Rüdiger Mühlmann from Rock Hard described the album as an "absolute masterpiece" and "absolute world class", the album is complemented by the "beauty of poetry". "This brilliant achievement, embedded in a heavy, steely, even brilliant sound, makes Baldr ok Iss a reference work." According to Huguenin, Baldr ok Íss does not exceed the intensity of its predecessor, and it is not a "distinctive increase to 'Frostnacht' [...] zu detect"; "However, it is questionable whether it would be even possible to improve from this position at all"; However, it is not a step backwards either, and "the purchase recommendation for fans of this style is [...] inevitable in 2007 too". Marius Mutz from Metal1.info praised Schwadorf , who “staged all the pieces in the best possible sound” production, but he lacks “partly this magical” compared to the “rightly much praised” debut, making songs like Older than the Cross or Frostnacht an experience that is "unparalleled" in the Black Metal environment. Nevertheless, the album is “a strong unit” and “a purchase especially of the digipak is certainly worthwhile, Prophecy / Lupus Lounge have never ripped off in this regard , and I don't think any fan will actually be 'disappointed' in the literal sense, the predecessors are still not quite reached here ".
