Music style and lyrics

The pieces "clink mainly in the heavy mid-tempo range and are mainly reminiscent of Immortal , Darkthrone , Hades (when they did not yet use the addition Almighty) and old Satyricon ". According to the band, Frostnacht has "a wider emotional range" than the previous recordings. According to Skald Draugir, “always tried to create special texts because I don't want to describe things that are clichéd. I'm interested in deeper topics, and both old German and modern poetry influence me. I am also inspired by psychological symbols. I try to make music and lyrics go together and develop a strong expression. When I write a text, it should be able to stand on its own, in other words: It should be a good poem. "However, he does not like to explain the deeper meaning of my texts, because I think it is better if the listener interprets himself."

reception

Wolf-Rüdiger Mühlmann from Rock Hard called the album a “must-attend event for those Black Metallers who especially appreciate the old primitive school” and recommended in particular ... Until the soul freezes and older than the cross . The band “doesn't need to fiddle around with pseudo-avant-garde nonsense”, and fascinates “with both direct and clever texts” that he “almost devoured”. According to Arlette Huguenin from vampster , Frostnacht is "set at a high level". In the review by Marius Mutz from Metal1.info on the successor Baldr ok Íss, there is talk of a "rightly much praised" album, Baldr ok Íss is missing "partly this magical" one, making songs like Older Than the Cross or Frostnacht an experience that is "unparalleled" in the Black Metal environment.
