A ball closure ring (BCR, "Ball closure ring"), even captive bead called, is a classic jewelry ring , which the body piercing is used together with the barbell is standard piercing jewelry. It is usually made of stainless steel , titanium or various plastics .

A ball, which is clamped into the opening of the ring, serves as a closure. It has two small indentations on both sides so that it can snap into the ring opening. To insert the ball, the ring can be carefully expanded with a spreader .

Often the BCR is worn in the navel , earlobe or nipple . Because of its easy handling and high wearing comfort, it is one of the most widespread pieces of jewelry in the piercing sector, but it is not suitable for first use in a newly pierced piercing, as the needle hole can easily ignite due to the axial and radial movement of the ring.

Since the spreading of the jewelry becomes more difficult with increasing material thickness, there is also the variant with thick jewelry that the ring has corresponding recesses in the flat dividing surfaces, into which pins spring mounted in the ball snap into place.

Variations

Circular Barbell, Barbell, Ball Closure Ring and Curved Barbell

A segment ring is not closed with a ball, but with a pin that corresponds to the length, material thickness and radius of the ring opening, and forms a continuous ring.

The so-called bar closure ring is similar to the segment ring ; instead of a segment that continues the shape of the ring, a segment is to be found that is currently running through. Segment rings can be very expensive under certain circumstances; for this reason the bar closure ring is often chosen as an alternative.
