Portal Tomb by Ballynasilloge

The portal Tomb of Ballynasilloge ( Irish Baile na Saileog ), also called Ballynasillogue or "The Banshee Stone", is located in Borris, about 300 m west of the Glashroge River in the west of County Carlow near the border with County Kilkenny in Ireland . Megalithic systems on the British Isles are called Portal Tombs , in which two equally high, upright stones with a door stone in between form the front of a chamber, which is covered with a sometimes huge capstone.

The relocated capstone measures approximately 3.7 × 2.0 m and is 0.35 m thick in the middle. It rests on the remains of two portal stones and on the door stone, while the end stone is missing. The west-east oriented megalithic complex shows hardly any remains of a hill that was once covered.
