As bamboo frame , a is frame referred to, which consists of bamboo wood is. The structure and use are similar to scaffolding made of steel .

Use in construction

Just like steel scaffolding, bamboo scaffolding is used to work on a building and to protect people from injury. The use of bamboo scaffolding has established itself in Asian and African countries, as the building material bamboo is available cheaply in large quantities here. The building material steel is much more expensive compared to bamboo and requires a lot of energy to process. Bamboo scaffolding is not only used in poor countries, but is also used in Asian countries such as Japan and China.

The training to become a bamboo scaffold builder takes at least one, but usually three years.

Bamboo scaffolding is not, as might initially be assumed, more unsafe or fragile than steel scaffolding. Bamboo is a very flexible and at the same time very stable building material. The nodes of the bamboo stabilize the poles and make them a tough building material. Only the durability is lower. Recycling bamboo scaffolding is also more environmentally friendly than recycling steel.

Bamboo scaffolding is transported to the construction site in individual parts and erected there with rope connections. After use, the scaffolding parts can be separated again and taken to the next construction site.

Cultural use

In addition to construction sites, bamboo scaffolding is used, for example, in the Chinese opera and other stage performances to erect temporarily stable stages.
