Banana plant in the Philippines

A region of the tropics between the 38th degree north and 28th degree south latitude, which has ideal conditions for the cultivation of bananas , is called the banana belt .

In order to develop optimally, bananas need a warm, humid climate and a temperature of around 27 ° C. If possible, 1,500 hours of sunshine a year or more and high humidity are further requirements. The banana plant grows best on flat, well-ventilated, sandy loam soil. Banana harvests of up to 50 tons / ha are possible in such places.
