Vernon Phillips Watkins
Vernon Phillips Watkins (born June 27, 1906 in Maesteg , † October 8, 1967 in Seattle , Washington ) was a Welsh poet .
Influenced by the work of William Butler Yeats , his poems mostly dealt with the nature and folklore of his home in South Wales. In 1957 he published the letters addressed to him by his friend Dylan Thomas (1914–1953).
He died while visiting professor at the University of Washington . His ashes were buried in the churchyard of St Mary's Church in Pennard , Wales, where a plaque commemorates him.
