Banco Inglés
The Banco Inglés is a building in the Uruguayan capital of Montevideo .
The building, which was constructed between 1888 and 1890, is located in Ciudad Vieja at Calle 25 de Mayo 401, corner of Zabala . Engineer Luigi Andreoni was responsible for the construction . It initially housed the Banco Inglés and now serves as the headquarters of the Banco BBVA , which also owns it. The twelve-meter-high, two-story building has a floor area of 844 m² and is arranged around a central courtyard made of a cast iron structure. The facade design is assigned to an eclecticism influenced by the baroque .
