Bangsbo Fort is a coastal fortress in Frederikshavn Municipality in the far north of Denmark .
history
The near Frederikshavn , Bangsbo area, on the hill of Pikkerbakken bunker located was approved by the German Wehrmacht built during World War II and in 1944 with Krupp cannons that from the former cadet training ship (Danish .: Artilleriskib) Niels Juel came , armed. The command bunker from the Second World War served the Commander-in-Chief of the German Armed Forces as the North Jutland headquarters until the liberation of Denmark in 1945.
After the war, the Danish armed forces took over the facility and continued to operate it from 1952 to 1962 as a Danish coast guard during the Cold War. In 2005, with the approval of the Danish military administration, Bangsbo Fort was renovated, the old Krupp cannon was derusted and repainted and the bunker was secured for visitors. Today the facility is part of the outdoor complex of the coastal museum.
