The Knauth, Nachod & Kühne bank was a private bank in Leipzig and New York .

history

The trading company Knauth, Nachod & Kühne was founded in 1852 and entered in the commercial register in 1862 . The co-owners of the company included the merchants Franz Theodor Knauth , Jacob Nachod and Friedrich Kühne . The company was originally active in the sale of cloths and consignments . It operated a brisk import and export with sales partners in the USA. Later it focused on trading and banking .

After the establishment of the Empire in 1871, the two areas separated. The Leipziger Haus became an influential bank in Saxony. Her New York office was at 28 Broad Street , later at 113 Broadway and at 15 William Street (today: William Beaver House ). From 1916 the bank moved to Broadway 120 ( Broad Exchange Building ), not far from Wall Street . Former general counsel was the lawyer Antonio Knauth . In 1945, following instructions from the Soviet military administration in Germany, it was closed and liquidated by the Saxon Landesbank .
