The Baoulei harvest mouse ( Mus baoulei ) is a rodent in the subfamily of Old World mice found in West Africa .

features

With a head-trunk length of 56 to 70 mm, a tail length of 38 to 45 mm and a weight of 6 to 8 g, the species is a small representative of the genus mice . They have hind feet 12 to 15 mm long and ears 10 to 12 mm long. The top hair is gray near the roots and brown at the tips, resulting in a gray-brown coat color. Yellow or reddish shades may appear on the sides of the body. The border to the white underside is clearly defined. At the head, the border is in the lower area of ​​the cheeks. There is an ocher-colored spot to the side of the eyes and below the ears . The tail has a brown top and a lighter underside.

Distribution and way of life

The distribution area of ​​the Baoulei harvest mouse extends from southeast Guinea over the Ivory Coast to Togo . From Ghana and Sierra Leone no findings are known, the occurrence of the species in these countries is not excluded. Savannas in the direct vicinity of rainforests serve as habitats .

The Baoulei harvest mouse is probably nocturnal. No other lifestyle information is available.
