Bapatla is a city in the Indian state of Andhra Pradesh .
The city is part of the Guntur district . Bapatla has the status of a municipality . The city is divided into 21 wards . It had a total of 70,777 inhabitants on the cut-off date of the 2011 census, of which 34,385 were men and 36,392 women. With a share of around 85%, Hindus form the largest group of the city's population, followed by Muslims with around 11% and Christians with around 3%. The literacy rate in 2011 was 80.67%.
