Barbara Baynton

Barbara Jane Baynton (born June 4, 1857 in Scone , New South Wales , † May 28, 1929 in Melbourne ) was an Australian writer .

Life

She was born the daughter of a carpenter and was employed as a governess . From 1887 she lived in Sydney and worked there for the magazine The Bulletin . She later moved to England . Here she married for the third time in 1921. Frequent trips also took her to Australia .

She wrote short stories and a novel.
