Barbara Krause (political scientist)

Barbara Krause (* 1945 ) is a German political scientist and university professor.

Live and act

Barbara Krause studied political science, history and German studies in Freiburg and Vienna from 1964 to 1969 and completed her studies with the first state examination. In 1970/71 she worked as a consultant for political education. In 1973 she was promoted to Dr. phil. PhD.

From 1972 to 1978 she was the full-time federal chairwoman of the Federation of German Catholic Youth (BDKJ). She worked as a consultant in adult education with a focus on women's work, as well as in the editing of educational materials, especially at Misereor .

From 1978 to 1997 she held various teaching positions at the Catholic University of Applied Sciences in North Rhine-Westphalia. From 1997 until her retirement in 2010 she was Professor of Political Science at the Catholic University of North Rhine-Westphalia in Aachen.

Her main research interests are in the field of social work with gender and migration as well as integration .

Krause is a member of the Central Committee of German Catholics , Deputy Chairwoman of the German Commission Justitia et Pax , board member of the Diocesan Caritas Association Aachen and member of the sub-commission for the scientific working group of Commission X - World Church Tasks - of the German Bishops' Conference .
