Barbara M. Ferrier

Barbara M. Ferrier (born August 7, 1932 in Edinburgh , Scotland , † before or on January 5, 2006 in Hamilton , Canada ) was a British-Canadian chemist and university professor.

Life

Ferrier holds a PhD in chemistry from the University of Edinburgh . In the 1960s she worked at Harvard University in the group of William von Eggers Doering . Here she was instrumental in the synthesis of bridged 3,4-homotropilidenes . The corresponding connections Barbaralan and Barbaralon were named after her. In 1969 Ferrier came to McMaster University in Hamilton, Ontario, where she worked at the Faculty of Health Sciences from 1972 as a professor in the Department of Biochemistry and Biomedical Sciences until her retirement in 1998.

Ferrier was the twin sister of the British-New Zealand chemist and professor Robert J. Ferrier .
