Barbara Raetsch (born October 21, 1936 in Pirna ) is a German painter. She has lived in Potsdam since 1958.

Barbara Raetsch attended school until she graduated from high school and then trained as a technical assistant in horticulture in Dresden-Pillnitz. In 1958 she married the painter Karl Raetsch and settled with him in Potsdam. In addition to other activities, she has since been intensively self-taught in painting and graphic techniques. In 1962 and 1964 the sons Bruno and Robert were born. From 1970 to 1974 she worked as a management assistant at the State Palaces and Gardens of Potsdam-Sanssouci. From 1970 she worked intensively with painting, from 1974 also with etchings. Barbara Raetsch has also been working as a freelance painter since 1977 and becomes a member of the Association of Visual Artists of the GDR (VBK).

Together with Karl Raetsch, she had converted the former cemetery chapel in Potsdam-Hermannswerder into a studio and gallery, which was used by her husband, her and their son Robert until 2013. From 1990 Barbara and Karl Raetsch invited to exhibitions of their works in their studio.
