Barbaros Altuğ

Barbaros Altuğ (born 1972 ) is a Turkish writer , journalist and literary agent .

After studying engineering in Ankara , he worked as a journalist, including as a columnist for the daily newspaper Taraf . In 1999 he founded the first literary agency in Istanbul to increase the circulation of Turkish authors and literature.

During his journalistic work in Turkey, Altuğ continuously criticized anti-democratic tendencies and advocated the rights of homosexuals . After the attempted coup in 2016, he left the country and moved to Paris with his partner. Before that he lived and worked for some time in Berlin.

In his novella "We are fine here" he deals with the emigration of three young Turks after the Gezi protests . “Sticht in my soul” deals with the genocide of the Armenian population in the form of a novel . In his works and in his writing, Altuğ deals with Turkish exiles and the political situation in Turkey. Both works were published in German by Orlanda Verlag .
