The Barclays Bank Ireland plc, Hamburg Branch, Germany with administrative headquarters in Hamburg is a branch of the Irish Barclays Bank Ireland plc, which in turn is a subsidiary of British Barclays plc is. In 1991 Barclays opened its first foreign branch, today's Hamburg branch, where around 650 employees work.

Credit cards and loans

With 1.4 million credit cards issued under the Barclaycard label , Barclays is one of the larger providers in Germany. Customers receive Visa and Mastercards . There are various offers, a basic fee-free Visa, with a basic fee a Gold Visa, card double Platinum Double as well as for students and a co-branding Eurowings . The credit cards work on the principle of the revolving credit , similar to a disposition credit, whereby the credit does not have to be used for a fee.

In May 2008 Barclays entered another business area and offers installment loans for private customers and the self-employed. Private customers can also choose from other types of credit.

In January 2012, Barclays entered the German market for savings deposits with a call money account . In addition to the overnight deposit account, fixed-term deposit accounts with terms of one to five years are also offered.

The Hamburg multifunctional arena has been called the Barclaycard Arena since July 2015 . The naming rights are applied for ten years. The games of the Hamburg Freezers ice hockey team were played in the arena . The city of Hamburg expects 1.4 million visitors a year.
