The Barhal Çayı is a left tributary of the Çoruh in the northeast Turkish province of Artvin .

The Barhal Çayı rises on the southeast slope of the Kaçkar Dağı , the highest mountain in the Eastern Pontic Mountains . It initially flows in an easterly direction past the settlement of Yaylalar . Then it flows in an arc, first to the north, then to the east and finally, east of Altıparmak , to the south. Eventually the river reaches the small town of Yusufeli and flows into the Çoruh. The Barhal Çayı has a length of 60 km. The mean discharge is 16 m³ / s. The Barhal Çayı is a popular white water river for rafting and kayaking . The rapids have difficulty levels from II to VI. With the construction of the Yusufeli dam on the Çoruh, the lower kilometers of the Barhal Çayı will be flooded.
