The Barkell platform is a narrow, 100 m wide and up to 1285 m high plateau in the East Antarctic Mac-Robertson-Lands . It is on the north end of Mawson Escarpment .
The platform was the location for the construction of a geodetic survey station during a 1971 campaign to the Prince Charles Mountains as part of the Australian National Antarctic Research Expeditions . The Antarctic Names Committee of Australia named them after Victor George Barkell (1925-1995), helicopter pilot of the crew working at this station.
