Barna-Zsolt "Axy" Akacsos (born September 12, 1967 in Sfântu Gheorghe , Romania ) is a former Romanian handball player and currently a handball trainer . He has been in charge of TV Cloppenburg since the 2017/18 season .

Player career

Akacsos learned to play handball in his Romanian homeland. With the HC Baia Mare he won the Cup and European Cup in 1988. The following year he was Romanian champion with Steaua Bucharest . After moving to Frisch Auf Göppingen , he secured the title of top scorer in the 2nd League South in the 1990/91 season. Other clubs were CSG Erlangen, SG VTB / Altjührden , PSV Wilhelmshaven and ATSV habenhausen . Akacsos ended his active career with the 2nd team at HSG Varel-Friesland .

National team

Akacsos played 34 times for the Romanian national handball team.

Coaching career

Initially, Akacsos was the youth coach and player coach of the second team at HSG Varel-Friesland. This was followed by a commitment in his native Romania, before he steered the fortunes of SG HC Bremen / Hastedt in the 2016/17 season. He has been the coach of TV Cloppenburg since the 2017/18 season.
