Steaua Bucharest (handball)
Steaua Bucharest (Romanian: Clubul Sportiv al Armatei Steaua București , in German Army Sports Club Steaua ) is a Romanian handball club from the capital Bucharest . The handball department of the club founded on June 7, 1947 is the most successful in the country in the men's field. With 27 championship titles, Steaua is the undisputed record champion. There are also seven national cup wins. Internationally, there are two victories in the European Cup (1968, 1977). More recently, the victory in the EHF Challenge Cup 2006 marks the beginning of a series of new Romanian successes in the European Cup.
